BROOKINGS – Three elections in Brookings – including the mayor’s seat – will be up for grabs on Tuesday.
Former mayor Tim Reed resigned when he was elected to the House of Representatives in District 7 and former mayor Scott Munsterman stepped in for three months. The open mayor’s position carries a one-year term, and the candidates are Patty Bacon, Keith Corbett and Don Diamond.
Two seats are up for election on the Brookings City Council, and both have three-year terms. Vying for those seats are Isaiah Croatt, Dan Hansen, Ope Niemeyer and Nick Schmeichel.
There is one three-year seat open on the Brookings School Board. Running for the post are Jennifer Lacher-Starace and Kevin Sackreiter.
Voting centers will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Locations are:

Aurora
In Aurora, the Ward II council seat will be up for grabs Tuesday. Vying for it are incumbent Nancy Price and Patrick Peterson, said Shannon Clifford.
Volga
In Volga, the mayor’s seat is up for election. Vying for it are Roger Anderson, current Ward III council member, and current Mayor Randy Santema.
Uncontested council seats are Ward I: Jody Havrevold; Ward II: Kelly VanderWal; and Ward III: Doug Wermedal. Havrevold and Wermedal will be new to the council, said Ashley Rentsch, city finance officer.
