BROOKINGS – Sioux Falls West 13/14U swept a doubleheader from the Bombers Gray on Tuesday at Mickelson Field, winning 12-5 and 11-6 in three innings.
Brookings (2-6) competes in the Sioux Falls Tournament on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Game 1
• S.F. West 12, Brookings 5
The visitors scored four runs in the second and third innings to grab an 8-0 cushion. They added four more in the fifth frame to move ahead 12-4.
Brookings’ Gavin Fixsen, Dillon Scheeley and Logan Stotz each had a hit and an RBI. Blake Wallenberg also drove in a run.
Braden Clifford took the pitching loss after giving up four runs – two earned – on just one hit and six walks with four strikeouts in two innings. Fixsen tossed the final five, surrendering eight runs – none of which were earned – on five hits with seven strikeouts and a walk.
