BROOKINGS – A skid loader was deemed a total loss after a fire Saturday, according to the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.
The fire was reported at 3:30 p.m. Saturday and occurred in the 500 block of 34th Avenue in Brookings, Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring said.
“It was found that a weed patch was being burned and to prevent the spreading of the fire the skid loader operator was digging a trench around it when the skid loader caught on fire,” Sebring said.
“The New Holland LX565 skid loader was a total loss. The estimated loss (was) $5,000,” Sebring said.
Also responding was the Brookings Fire Department.
The fire is under investigation with the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.
