BROOKINGS – One in 4 women and 1 in 7 men will experience severe physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime.
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and on Sept. 30, intern Leah Hendrickson and Executive Assistant Carolyn Groves of the Brookings Domestic Abuse Shelter hung purple ribbons on Main Avenue light polls and trees to bring attention to the fight against domestic violence. The purple ribbons will be up throughout October.
