BROOKINGS – Two Brookings teens were involved in a rollover accident and one was airlifted to Sioux Falls for treatment, according to the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.

Thomas Reynolds, 14, was airlifted to Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, said Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring.

The accident occurred at 4:42 p.m. Thursday southwest of Brookings.

William Reynolds, 17, of Brookings, was driving a 2000 Ford Ranger eastbound on 215th Street near the intersection of 474th Avenue.

“The driver hit some washboard area on the gravel road and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle entered the north ditch then came back onto the roadway and rolled. The driver and the passenger were taken by ambulance to the Brookings hospital. The driver was treated for injuries at the Brookings hospital,” Sebring said.

The Ford Ranger was deemed a total loss.

Brookings Police Department, Aurora Fire Department and Brookings Ambulance also responded to the accident.
