Teresa Kay Pomrenke (Schmidt) was born June 1, 1960, to Alvin and Geraldine Schmidt. The oldest of five children being the only daughter — and the favorite, so she thought. Being raised on a dairy farm gave all the children a great work ethic. Growing up, she always worked outside with the boys. She also babysat many of the neighborhood children - there were lots of boys who spent many days at the farm. She would milk cows and raise pigs for the neighbors as a farmhand. Teresa worked at White Care Center, Brookings Hospital, and Brookings Dental Clinic. She almost always had a second job - babysitting, Six Mill Creek Golf Course, 1481 Grill, and the Swiftel Center.
She married Myron Pomrenke March 3, 1990. They made their home by White, South Dakota. She was blessed with two sons, Bryce and Braydn. She attended almost all their activities when possible. Many of their friends spent much time at their home which she truly enjoyed. She also let them have many kinds of pets.
Teresa also volunteered in many activities, EMT - White Ambulance since 1982, Sunday School Teacher at United Methodist Church, on the Pioneer Day Committee, member of the White Eastern Star # 6, American Legion Auxiliary, White Community Club, Deubrook Backpack Program.
She lived most of her life with a hereditary heart condition which got harder to live with as years went by, she was determined not to let the disease get her down. Left to celebrate her life is her husband, Myron, sons - Bryce (Erin) and Braydn, grandchildren - Hank and Eliza, mother - Geraldine Schmidt, brothers - Paul (Jane) Schmidt, Brian (Cindy) Schmidt, Wayne (Rebecca) Schmidt, sisters-in-law - Vicki (Scott) Whitehead and Cathy Schmidt, brothers-in-law - Melvin Pomrenke, Marlyn Pomrenke, many nephews and nieces, great nieces and nephews, and friends.
Preceded in death by her father - Alvin Schmidt, brother - Keith Schmidt; sisters-in-law - Sarah Schmidt, Anna Pomrenke, mothers-in-law - Donna Pomrenke, Priscilla Pomrenke, Phyllis Pomrenke; father-in-law Earl Pomrenke.
