WHITE – The attempted theft of a vehicle’s catalytic converter in White is being investigated by the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred between Dec. 1 and Tuesday in the 300 block of West Main Street in White, Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring wrote Wednesday in a news release. It was reported at 5:02 p.m. Tuesday and caused an estimated $1,000 in damage to the 2022 Dodge Ram 3500.
Sebring wrote that the unknown suspect or suspects attempted to remove the vehicle’s catalytic converter using what appeared to be a reciprocating saw. For an unknown reason, the converter was not completely removed, and the suspect of suspects left the area.
