Viola Robbins, age 95, of White, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at the Hendricks Nursing Home in Hendricks, MN. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at the United Methodist Church in White, SD. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. until the time of the funeral on Wednesday. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Eidsness Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Viola Ruth Schultz was born on November 11, 1928, in Freeman, SD, the daughter of Ferdinand and Laura (Rabe) Schultz.
Viola received her education in Freeman, SD, and was a graduate of the Freeman High School. She continued her education at Nettleton Business College in Sioux Falls, SD. After receiving her education, she was employed at John Deere Co. in Sioux Falls from 1946 until 1958. She was united in marriage to Lawrence C. Clark on June 7, 1958. He died in 1968. Viola was then employed as secretary to the Grand Secretary of the Grand Lodge A.F. & A.M. of South Dakota from 1960 until 1976 in Sioux Falls. On June 26, 1976, she married Darrell F. Robbins of White, SD. After their marriage, they farmed south of White until their retirement in 1987. Darrell died April 12, 1988. Viola continued to make White her home.
Viola was a member of the United Methodist Church of White, and was an active member, serving on many committees and also serving as Lay Speaker. She was also past president of the VFW Auxiliary 628 in Sioux Falls, past Matron of White Star Chapter 16, OES, and also served as chairperson of Fairview Cemetery Association.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and one nephew.
