BROOKINGS – A woman was injured in a fall from a third-floor balcony on Thursday, according to Brookings Police.

The fall was reported at 2:25 a.m. Thursday and occurred in the 2400 block of 10th Street, Lt. Marci Gebers said.

“Alcohol appears to have been a factor in this fall,” she said.

The woman was a 24-year-old Brookings resident, she said.

“When officers arrived on scene, they did locate the female party in the grass below (the balcony). She did have serious injuries and she was transported by Brookings Ambulance and later transported down to Sioux Falls,” Gebers said.

The University Police Department responded to assist the BPD.
