Yolanda Masanque Johnson, daughter of Benjamin Masanque and Aurora Larson, was born on July 30, 1955, in Tondo, Philippines.
She passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at the age of 68. Yolanda was able to donate her organs which resulted in saving 4 lives in the Midwest area.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m, on Thursday, April 25, at Rude’s Funeral Home in Brookings, SD. Visitation will be held one hour prior from 1 pm to 2 pm on Thursday, April 25, at Rude’s Funeral Home in Brookings. On June 30, 1971, Yolanda married Bobby Johnson, in Angeles City, Philippines. Yolanda and Bobby met when they attended Wagner High School at Clark Air Base. They welcomed two children Xavier and Maria. Later, the family of four moved to Brookings, SD, after Bobby was assigned to the SDSU Air Force ROTC Program.
She was a long-time 3M employee in Brookings, SD, upon retirement, she worked at Hy-Vee always being a friendly face.
One of Yolanda’s greatest gifts was being a grandma to four grandchildren. She loved her grandkids’ activities and watching sports. Yolanda was a stellar cook and shared her signature lumpia with everyone. Yolanda was one of God’s biggest blessings in many lives. We are eternally grateful for all of her gifts of love to us and the beautiful legacy she leaves behind.
Yolanda is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Bobby Johnson, children, Xavier (Amy) Johnson, and Parker (Emily) Haines, and four grandchildren, Sydney, Noah, Isaac, and Micah Johnson.
