YANKTON – The Brookings eighth-grade football teams were each shutout on Tuesday in Yankton.
A Game
• Yankton 32, Brookings 0
The Bucks got the scoring going with 57 seconds left on a 6-yard touchdown pass to take a 6-0 lead. They doubled their lead with 4:04 left in the first half on a 11-yard run. Yankton capped off the first half with a 61-yard touchdown pass to make it 18-0 at halftime.
They put the game out of reach with two touchdowns in the fourth quarter. They scored on a 14-yard run to make it 26-0 and then scored on a 67-yard pick six.
Jerell Hines had a fumble recovery for the Bobcats. The A-team is now 0-3.
B Game
• Yankton 30, Brookings 0
Yankton scored on a 55-yard run with 3:50 left in the first quarter to make it 8-0. The Bucks then scored on a 2-yard with 2:32 left in the first half to make it 14-0 at halftime.
Things were mostly the same in the second half. Yankton took a 22-0 lead on a 44-yard pass and then scored on a 18-yard run.
Jared Erickson had two interceptions and Brayden Love had fumble recovery. The B-team is now 0-3 and each teams next game in Sept. 29 at home against Huron.
