Five area football teams were in action on Friday. Elkton-Lake Benton remained undefeated with a blowout win over Iroquois/Lake Preston and Flandreau, Deubrook Area and Colman-Egan all lost.

Area Football: Elkton-Lake Benton remains undefeated

Five area football teams were in action on Friday. Elkton-Lake Benton remained undefeated with a blowout win over Iroquois/Lake Preston and Flandreau, Deubrook Area and Colman-Egan all lost.

Elkton-Lake Benton 50, Iroquois/Lake Preston 0

ELKTON – The Elks continued to roll as they mercy ruled the Sharks on Friday and improved to 6-0. ELB led 20-0 at halftime and then scored 24 points in the third quarter before getting to 50 in the fourth.

Ryan Krog had just four completions, but all four went for touchdowns and combined for 186 yards. Tanner Stein had two catches for 91 yards and two touchdowns. Tanner Drietz had one catch that went 51 yards for a touchdown. Carson Griffith had a 44-yard touchdown catch.

Krog also ran for 174 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries. Colt Beck had a 39-yard touchdown run. Blake De Vries had five rushes for 33 yards and Riddick Westley had three carries for 22 yards.

Stein had six total tackles on defense. Drietz had an interception. Teigan Krog had three tackles and a sack.

ELB plays Florence/Henry in Henry on Friday at 7 p.m.

 Elk Point-Jefferson 61, Flandreau 7

ELK POINT – Flandreau scored the first touchdown all season on EPJ, but the Huskies still took care of the Fliers.

The Fliers touchdown came on a Paul Parsley run. Parsley went 14-for-18 with 26 yards and had two carries for 17 yards.

Ethan Hoffman had 47 yards on nine carries. He also had seven catches for two yards. Tison Burggraff had one catch for 30 yards.

Noah McDermott went 12-for-12 with 204 yards and four touchdowns for EPJ. Devin Schmitz had three catches for 67 yards and a touchdown. Ashton Fairbanks had one catch that went 60 yards for a touchdown. Kaden Moore had a 29-yard touchdown catch and Ben Swatek had a nine-yard touchdown grab.

Swatek also had five carries for 76 yards and a touchdown. Lucas Heuser had five carries for 21 yards and a touchdown. Christian Mueller had one carry for 12 yards that went four a touchdown. Chace Fornia had a six-yard touchdown run.

Flandreau is now 2-4 and plays at Jim River in Menno on Friday at 7 p.m.

 Florence/Henry 27, Deubrook Area 6

The Falcons outscored the Dolphins 27-0 in the first three quarters before Deubrook was able to get on the board in the fourth. 

The Dolphins lone touchdown came on a 30-yard pass from Colin Bauman to Devon Landmark.

Bauman was 11-for-23 for 160 yards and Landmark had five catches for 114 yards. Bauman had 39 yards rushing on 15 carries. Jaxon Quail had two rushes for 29 yards.

The Falcons were led by Tegan Sumner who went 11-for-23 for 215 yards and two touchdowns. Clay Trupe had four catches for 135 yards and a touchdown. Mehki Keller had six catches for 75 yards and a score.

Karter Kohlenberg had 11 carries for 62 yards. Keller had 11 rushes for 30 yards.

The Dolphins dropped to 4-2 on the season and hosts Canistota at 7 p.m. on Friday.

 Wolsey Wessington 50, Colman-Egan 12

COLMAN – The Warbirds got out to a 20-0 lead and didn’t look back. Wolsey-Wessington then led 36-6 at halftime before cruising to the victory in the second half.

The Hawks had 169 yards of offense. Jack Mousel went 9-for-14 with 66 yards, three interceptions and one fumble.

Wolsey-Wessington had 284 total yards. Keegan Haider had two rushing touchdowns for the Warbirds. Blaze Herdman was 5-for-12 with 92 yards and an interception.

Colman-Egan dropped to 0-5 and plays Iroquois/Lake Preston on Friday at 7 p.m. The Sharks are winless as well.
