BROOKINGS – Brandon Valley won the girls’ team title with 106.5 points while the Bobcats placed ninth with 30 points at Saturday’s Ruth Marske Invitational at the SJAC.

Area teams open track and field season

BROOKINGS – Brandon Valley won the girls’ team title with 106.5 points while the Bobcats placed ninth with 30 points at Saturday’s Ruth Marske Invitational at the SJAC.

Watertown won the boys’ crown with 111 points as Brookings tied for 11th with Sioux Falls Roosevelt with 21 points.

Girls

Rachel Gannon won the triple jump with a mark of 32 feet, 9 inches.

Emily Rystrom placed second in the 400-meter dash in a time of 1 minute, 1.37 seconds.

Kayla Shoup finished fourth in the 1,600 in 5:43.88 and Kailee Bartels was fourth in the 200 in 28.36.

Riley Weisbeck placed seventh in the 300 hurdles in 52.91 seconds.

Boys

Isaac Conrad placed second in the 800-meter run in 2:05.32.

Chalie Wang finished fourth in the 3,200 in 10:37.78.

Junior Zokou placed seventh in the long jump with a leap of 18 feet, 4 inches.

In the pole vault, Sam Lehman cleared 11 feet for fifth and Ayden Ellis went 10-6 for seventh.

SDSU Invitational

Sioux Falls Lincoln swept the team titles as the girls scored 194.5 points while the boys totaled 223 points in Thursday’s SDSU Invitational

The Arlington girls scored 10 points to finish 10th in the team standings as the boys placed ninth with seven points.

Girls

Hadley Carlson placed fifth in the high jump after clearing 4 feet, 10 inches, while Jayna Haufschild was seventh in the pole vault with a vault of 7-6. Carlson also placed sixth in the 100 hurdles in a time of 18.87 seconds.

The Arlington girls finished eighth in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 56.98 seconds. Members of the team included Kasey Pistulka, Cecili Carlson, Tessa Nelson and Tanley Goebel.

Boys

Nick Kersting placed sixth in the pole vault with a vault of 8-6, while Trevor Larsen was sixth in the high jump after clearing 5-6.

The Cardinal boys finished eighth in the 4x100 relay in a time of 48.59 seconds. Members of the team included Gavin Holland, Mason Bunker, Kersting and Larsen.
