BROOKINGS – The Bandits dropped to 0-3 as Sioux Falls East took two from Post 74 on Friday at Bob Shelden.

Post 15 won the opener, 6-3, before cruising to the sweep with a 17-6 win in the nightcap.

Brookings heads to Watertown on Monday for a single game that starts at 6 p.m.

• S.F. East 6, Brookings 3

In the second inning, Post 15 sandwiched a pair of walks around a base hit to load the bases before Elliot Barnes’ two-RBI double plated two runs to give East the early lead.

The Bandits answered with a run in the bottom of the second when Jameson Meyer took one for the team to get on base; advanced to second on Tyler Kreutner’s base hit; and then moved to third on a wild pitch. Jacob Devine’s one-out groundout scored Meyer to make it 2-1 through two.

East scored in the fourth, but Post 74 matched it in the bottom as Meyer and Kreutner both drew one-out walks before Devin’s two-out single up the middle drove in Meyer to keep the Bandits close at 3-2.

A Brookings error, followed by a hit batter, three straight singles and a sacrifice fly allowed Post 15 to score three runs in the fifth and go up by four, 6-2.

In the bottom of the fifth, Justin Devine reached base on an East error; went to third on Chris Lerdal’s single to right; and then scored on a wild pitch for the final 6-3 score.

Lerdal suffered the loss as he gave up six runs – four earned – on 11 hits and two walks, while striking out six in six innings of work. Cody Niklason pitched a scoreless seventh.

Matt Graham earned the win for Post 15 as he went 6 2/3 before Austin Kubik got the final out with two runners on in the seventh to pick up a save.
