JV GIRLS

The Rangers won two of their three home games, beating Yankton 2-0 on Friday and 4-2 on Saturday before falling to Aberdeen 5-1 on Sunday.

Brookings (5-7-0-1) wraps up the regular season playing host to Watertown on Friday and Saturday.

 Brookings 2, Yankton 0

McKenna Geraets and Kiran Vugteveen netted goals and Jadyn Runge made 18 saves to log the shutout between the pipes.

Geraets lit the lamp on a power play in the first. Alexis Schelske assisted.

Vugteveen scored off assists from Kayla Shoup and Geraets in the third.

 Brookings 4, Yankton 2

Shoup and Vugteveen both found the back of the net twice as the Rangers took control with three goals in the middle period.

Jadyn Kuehl, Raya Hessler and Taryn Richter were credited with assists.

Runge stopped 16 shots.

 Aberdeen 5, Brookings 1

The Cougars broke open a 2-1 game with a trio of goals in the third.

Vugteveen lit the lamp for Brookings.

Marina Gerstner recorded 37 saves.

BANTAM A

The Cougars beat the Rangers 5-3 Sunday in Aberdeen, outscoring Brookings 3-1 in the third period.

Jack Merritt scored twice and Jacob Kahle added a goal.

Jacob Peterson and Zach Struck both dished out a pair of assists and Garrett Bothe and Owen Schneider added one helper apiece.

Egan Jensen notched 29 saves.

Brookings (8-4-0-1) has home games versus Sioux Falls on Friday, Watertown on Saturday and Huron on Sunday to conclude the regular season.

BANTAM B

The Rangers posted a pair of road wins, topping Oahe 7-1 Saturday and Aberdeen (2) 3-1 Sunday.

Brookings (8-5-1-1) is host to Yankton on Friday and Watertown on Saturday before traveling to Brandon Valley on Sunday to close out the regular season.

 Brookings 7, Oahe 1

Jordan Raatz ripped it up with five goals.

Cooper Deatherage (three assists) and Jacob Law (one assist) also lit the lamp.

Derrick Eischens, Carson Odde and Aidan Austreim each tallied two assists and Andrew Sternhagen had one.

Nathan Brecher stopped five shots.

 Brookings 3, Aberdeen (2) 1

Raatz lit the lamp twice and Deatherage also found the back of the net.

Raatz also had an assist.

Brecher made nine saves.

GIRLS 14U

Brookings fell 2-1 to Huron on Saturday and tied Aberdeen 1-1 on Sunday at home.

The Rangers went 5-8-1 in the regular season and is the No. 5 seed in this weekend’s state tournament.

 Huron 2, Brookings 1

Shauna Pederson scored on an assist from Maya Edmison.

Heidi Merriman made 30 saves.

 Brookings 1, Aberdeen 1, tie

Anna Rasmussen lit the lamp. Payton Triplett assisted.

Merriman had 28 saves.

PEEWEE A

The Rangers throttled a trio of opponents at Larson Ice Center, beating Sioux Center 8-1 Friday, Huron 8-0 Saturday and Aberdeen 10-0 Sunday.

Brookings finished the regular season 10-8 and is the No. 5 seed in state tourney, which is this weekend.

 Brookings 8, Sioux Center 1

Jay Harris, Braden Dobesh and Waylon Carroll each had a pair of goals.

Parker Nielsen and Riley Linstad added a goal and an assist apiece.

Cody Jacobson added two helpers and Bryce Heflin one.

 Brookings 8, Huron 0

Heflin scored twice and Jacobson, Linstad, Harris, Nielsen, Carroll and Jackson Heller each added a goal.

Jacobson dished out a pair of assists, with Linstad, Harris, Carroll, Heflin, Dobesh, Thor Kahler and Tre Christopherson tallying one apiece.

 Brookings 10, Aberdeen 0

Linstad netted a hat trick and dished out a pair of assists.

Heflin, Dobesh, Harris, Nielsen, Jacobson, Isaak Earley and Mason Holen also lit the lamp.

Heflin, Nielsen and Christopherson had two assists apiece. Jacobson and Denver Qiao both added one.

PEEWEE C

The Rangers beat Oahe 6-5 at home on Saturday and lost 7-3 at Sioux Falls White (2) on Sunday.

Brookings (5-7) is the No. 5 seed in the state tournament, which is this weekend.

Jamison Olson lit the lamp twice and Andrew Hahn had a goal and an assist.

Micah Zweibahmer, Chasen Kastner and Garrett VanderWal added goals.

Connor Buckley dished out two helpers and Camden Reicks and Ashton Baker both had one.

Mathew Bothe had 14 saves.

 Sioux Falls White (2) 7, Brookings 3

The Flyers outscore the Rangers 4-0 in the third period.

Hahn had two goals and an assist. Gavin Loy also scored and Jamison Olson added a helper.

Bothe stopped 21 shots.

SQUIRT MAJOR

The Rangers won all four of their weekend games – two on Saturday at home and a pair on Sunday in Mitchell.

Brookings (10-2) continues league play Sunday.

Mason Diers, Mauer Bartley and Cade Zweber scored goals.

Neil Trygstad made 24 saves for the shutout win.

Max Jensen tallied a pair of assists.

 Brookings 12, Sioux Center 2

Jensen, Zweber and Ethan Foerster each lit the lamp a pair of times.

Diers, Teagan Moad, Atwood Ahmann, Isaac Andal, Nolan Krogman and Mauer Bartley scored.

Moad, Bartley, Un-hyeng Keay and Jeremiah Hovey had assists.

Trygstad stopped 10 shots.

 Brookings 5, Brandon Valley 0

Foerster and Diers both scored twice and Nolan Krogram added a goal.

Trygstad had nine saves in the shutout.

Alyssa Stewart and Krogman dished out assists.

 Brookings 10, Mitchell 0

Diers netted a hat trick.

Zweber and Jensen both scored twice. Bartley, Moad and Foerster had goals.

Trygstad notched his third shutout of the weekend, making nine saves.

Krogman had two assists and Keay, Zweber, Hovey and Adlai Rosenau each contributed one.

SQUIRT MINOR

The Rangers picked up four victories – three of which came in blowout fashion.

Brookings has a 10-0 record in league play.

Jack Lovseth tallied a hat trick.

Collin Jacobson also scored and Max Anderson had an assist.

 Brookings 9, Watertown (2) 1

Jacobson collected a hat trick.

Lovseth and Cannon Friedrich tallied two goals apiece and Ashton Otteson and Khloe Ziegeldorf both chipped in with one.

Anderson and Ty Harris both dished out a pair of assists and Carter Nielsen added one.

 Brookings 10, Sioux Falls 0

Lovseth and Jacobson had hat tricks.

Friedrich scored twice and Anderson and Brecken Thompson added goals.

Lovseth, Nielsen and Colt VanMaanen dished out helpers.

 Brookings 15, Watertown 1

Lovseth, Jacobson and VanMaanen each picked up a hat trick.

Friedrich and Anderson both added two goals. Nielsen and Khloe Ziegeldorf found the back of the net.

Lovseth, Nielsen and Friedrich had two assists each. Anderson added one.
