CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Brookings native Konner Beste was hired as an assistant women’s basketball coach at Queens University of Charlotte, the school announced Wednesday.

“Konner is an avid learner who will bring great value not only to our women’s basketball program, but the university,” said the Royals’ head coach, Sarah Jensen. “His work ethic and passion for teaching the game will enhance our student-athlete’s experience.

“I’m thrilled Konner chose Queens to start his coaching journey.”

Beste spent the last four seasons as both the women’s and men’s basketball student manager at South Dakota State.

As a member of the Jackrabbits’ staff, he was responsible for the team’s film exchange using Synergy and assisted the Director of Operations with practice and travel schedules as well as organizing alumni events for the basketball programs. He also served one season as the student manager for the women’s basketball team at Nebraska.

No stranger to Charlotte, Beste previously served as an Operations and Marketing Intern for the Jay Bilas Skills Camp, which is held every summer inside the Levine Center.

“I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity from Coach Jansen to join the women’s basketball program,” Beste said. “I believe that Queens is a special place and I could not be more excited to get to work and be a part of the Queens community.”

Beste is a 2019 graduate of SDSU with a Bachelor of General Studies degree with a focus on Business, Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities. He graduated from Brookings High School in 2013.
