Beverly Ann Sedig was born Oct. 18, 1936, in Estelline, to Albin and Beatrice (Scoville) Sedig. Bev and her brother, David, were raised and attended school in Bruce. She graduated from high school in 1954. She attended General Beadle (Dakota State) in Madison and gained a certificate in elementary education. She also attended Mount Marty College for business administration. She married Marvin Stroschein on April 17, 1959, in Estelline. They lived on a farm southwest of Clear Lake and this is where they began raising seven children. They moved to Clear Lake in May 1974. Bev worked for Good Samaritan Center, Reynolds Realty, Stro’s and Annie’s Cafes in Clear Lake. Bev loved cooking and baking. She was always trying to feed everyone who stopped by. She was very proud of “Bev’s Cookbook” that was published in 2000. She was famous for her homemade bread and pies. Bev loved music; she played organ, piano, drums, and accordion. She also loved to knit blankets and dishcloths for everyone. Marv and Bev loved playing cards, especially with special friends, Shorty and Fran.
Marv and Bev raised a loving and caring family. She had a very special place in her heart for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She cherished the time she spent with them.
Bev is survived by her seven children: Becky Stoltenburg; Tammy Kreger; Jodi Severson; Misty Gates; Scottie Hagen; Marty Stroschein; Marcey Jones, and their spouses; 16 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, one brother-in-law: Vernon (Shirley) Stroschein of Estelline and one sister-in-law: Elaine Stroschein of Clear Lake; very special cousins, several nieces and nephews.
Bev is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; three infant sons; and brother, David Sedig; five brothers-in-law: Earl, Ellis, Leon, Clarence Stroschein and Ralph Propst; and four sisters-in-law: Ragna, Oriska, Shirley Stroschein and Ethel Propst.
Condolences may be directed to the family in care of Misty Gates: 105 US HWY 22 West, Clear Lake, SD 57226.
