BROOKINGS – The Bobcats earned their fourth win of the season – and their second against Brandon Valley – as they rallied to beat the Lynx in a five-set Eastern South Dakota Conference match on Saturday at the BHS Auxiliary Gym.
Brandon Valley took the first set, 25-17, before the ‘Cats won Set 2, 25-22. After the Lynx captured the third set, 25-23, the home team forced a fifth set with a 25-21 win in Set 4.
The Bobcats jumped out to a 6-2 lead in Set 5 before scoring three straight points for a 15-12 win in the deciding set.
Grace Eggebrecht notched 19 kills as Annika Johnson and Michaela Jewett each tallied 13 for the Bobcats, who improved to 4-16 overall and 4-13 in the ESD.
Kylie Tucker added 10 kills while Jewett finished with 51 set assists, 12 digs and three ace serves, to go along with a solo block and a block assist.
Kailee Bartels contributed three block assists as Miranda Ysbrand collected 25 digs, Emma Hardin chipped in with 10 digs and three service aces and Ashlyn Borah finished with 10 digs and a pair of aces.
By completing the sweep over Brandon Valley, which dropped to 2-16 and 0-15 in the ESD, the Bobcats solidified their 16th-place position in power points with three regular-season matches left on their schedule.
Brookings plays host to the Lady Governors on Tuesday before hitting the road for its final two games – at Huron on Halloween night and at Sioux Falls Washington on Thursday, Nov. 2.
