WATERTOWN – The Bobcats fell 25-19, 25-23, 25-18 to the Arrows in a season-opening Eastern South Dakota Conference volleyball match Thursday night.

Bobcats drop opener at Watertown in three sets

WATERTOWN – The Bobcats fell 25-19, 25-23, 25-18 to the Arrows in a season-opening Eastern South Dakota Conference volleyball match Thursday night.

Grace Eggebrecht finished with 11 kills.

Annika Johnson contributed 10 kills and 10 digs. Emma Hardin and Kailee Bartels chipped in with five kills apiece.

Michaela Jewett totaled 38 set assists, 15 digs, four kills and a service ace. Megan Gilk came up with 11 digs.

Watertown’s Abby Johnson finished with 14 kills, Mariah Gloe 11 and McKenzie Buisker nine.

Sophie Tietz had three blocks, including one solo, and two service aces. Buisker notched a pair of blocks, including one solo. Tayler Corey and Buisker contributed a pair of aces apiece.

Annie Norberg (19) and Alexx Bayles (14) combined for 33 set assists. Corey had 16 digs and Gloe 10.

Brookings (0-1, 0-1) plays host to Huron on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Watertown (1-1, 1-1) is host to Brandon Valley on Saturday, Sept. 2.

• De Smet 3, Lake Preston 0

DE SMET – The Lady Bulldogs won the Dakota Valley Conference match 25-21, 25-22, 25-19.

Kenzie Blue had eight kills. Madisyn Miller added five kills, while Kristen Poppen, Rynn Osthus and Gianna Janssen totaled four apiece.

Osthus had 19 digs and three aces, and Miller chipped in with 11 digs. Osthus and Taylor Halverson both finished with 10 set assists.

Lake Preston’s Lindsay Hillestad ended up with nine kills, five blocks, an ace and seven digs.

Rylie Brown contributed six kills, three blocks, an ace and six digs. Meriah Flegel netted three aces, and Sasha Andrews and Lexis Curry two apiece.

Lake Preston (1-1, 0-1) plays host to Deubrook Area on Tuesday and De Smet (2-0, 1-0) heads to White to face the Dolphins on Thursday.

• Baltic 3, Colman-Egan 0

COLMAN – The Lady Bulldogs won the season-opening match by the set scores of 25-13, 25-14 and 25-19.

Baltic’s Shelby Dosch totaled seven kills, two blocks and a pair of aces. Nikya Owens contributed six kills and Madalynn Wirkus five to go with three blocks.

Brooke VanDam tallied six aces and Madison VanWyhe added five.

Colman-Egan’s Katie Hannasch had six kills. Savannah Moore added five kills to go with 21 digs and one ace.

Jordan Wittrock dished out 15 set assists and tallied an ace. Madison Voelker, who also netted an ace, and Olivia Baumberger both came up with 1 1/2 blocks. Haleigh Nicol had 11 digs.

Both teams are competing in tournaments on Saturday as Colman-Egan heads to Estelline and Baltic travels to Flandreau.

• Madison 3, Flandreau 0

MADISON – The Lady Bulldogs topped the Fliers 25-7, 25-11, 25-7.

Madison’s Olivia Rud totaled 11 kills and 2 1/2 blocks. Nicole Brown added six kills.

Jenni Giles tallied six aces and Briana Steuerwald added two.

Shania Schwebach dished out 25 set assists and also notched 1 1/2 blocks. Morgan Anderson posted nine digs. Maddie Gerry had three blocks.

Makenzey Burggraff had four kills to pace Flandreau. Jaycie Pulscher had a pair of aces and six set assists. Anna Gassman came up with 10 digs.

Flandreau (0-2) plays host to its annual tournament on Saturday. Madison (1-0) plays host to Dakota Valley on Saturday.

• Deubrook Area 3, Arlington 1

WHITE – The Dolphins opened the season with a 22-25, 25-20, 25-16, 25-22 DVC win over the Cardinals.

Arlington (0-1, 0-1) heads to the Parkston Tournament on Saturday. Deubrook (1-0, 1-0) travels to Lake Preston on Tuesday.

• Howard 3, Oldham-Ramona/Rutland 0

RUTLAND – The Tigers won 25-15, 25-13, 25-11.

Howard (1-1) plays at Sioux Valley and ORR (0-1) heads to the Flandreau Tournament on Saturday.
