HURON – Alexis Schelske netted a hat trick as the Bobcats picked up their first win of the season, 6-0, over Huron in Eastern South Dakota Conference girls’ soccer action Monday evening at Tiger Stadium.

Bobcats net first win

HURON – Alexis Schelske netted a hat trick as the Bobcats picked up their first win of the season, 6-0, over Huron in Eastern South Dakota Conference girls’ soccer action Monday evening at Tiger Stadium.

Schelske scored in the 11th minute and the 15th minute on assists from Brooke Bullington and Emily Rystrom, respectively.

Kelsey Werpy added a goal in the 21st minute. Leanna Briseno was credited with the assist. Ava Burns scored on an assist from Werpy in the 32nd minute to push the margin to 4-0 at halftime.

Schelske completed the hat trick in the 51st minute. Rachel Burke assisted.

Summer von Fischer provided for the final margin in the 71st minute, as Werpy assisted.

Grace Mork earned the shutout win in goal.

It marked Brookings’ first win in the head coach Kelli Herman era.

Huron dropped to 0-3 (0-2).

Brookings (1-2, 1-1) plays host to Harrisburg on Tuesday, Aug. 28, at 4 p.m.
