HAWARDEN, Iowa – Brookings senior Jacob Schoon completed a career sweep of the West Sioux Invite on Saturday, winning his weight class for the sixth year in a row.

All nine Bobcats placed – Nolan Archer, Logan Bowes and Gus Miller also won titles – as Brookings finished second in the team standings with 190.5 team points.

The host Falcons finished on top with 266 points.

Wrestling at 182 pounds, Schoon posted 15-0 technical falls over Spencer’s Samuel Brandt and Pipestone Area’s Nick Colvin early in his first two bouts, before pinning LeMars’ Robert Sakoski Jr. in 1:06 in the semifinals.

He finished off West Sioux’s Trevor Schuller in 3:10, winning via a 16-0 technical fall in the championship match.

At 126 pounds, Archer received a first-round bye before picking up a 15-0 technical fall (2:00) over Pipestone Area’s Allen Tubbs. He pinned West Sioux’s David Chavez in 1:26 in the semis.

Archer wrapped up the title with a 14-7 decision over Kingsley-Pierson’s Damon Schmid.

Bowes also received a bye at 160, before winning by fall in 3:57 over MOC-Floyd Valley’s Noah Fleming and then picking up a 10-2 major decision versus West Sioux’s Brandon Schuller.

Bowes topped Central Lyon/George-Little Rock’s Kalen Meyer 6-5 in the final.

Miller, wrestling at 220, pinned West Sioux’s Jadon Duenas in 58 seconds in the first round and Sioux Falls Lincoln’s Gavin Marco in 2:33 in the quarterfinals. He earned a 3-1 sudden victory over CLGLR’s Jarrett Meyer in a semifinal bout.

Miller edged LeMars’ Travis Theisen 7-6 to wrap up the championship.

Connor Klinkhammer (120 pounds) and Tucker Christie (285) both posted back-to-back pins before placing second.

Klinkhammer fell 17-1 to West Sioux’s Adam Allard in the final, while Christie dropped a 3-1 title bout to CLGLR’s Jarret Fastert.

Koby Bartels (132) and Jaxon Bowes (138) both went 2-1 to place third, while Luke Rasmussen (170) won three bouts by fall while taking sixth with a 3-2 mark.

Brookings travels to Yankton tonight for a triangular against the Bucks and Sioux Falls Roosevelt.

Mid Dakota Monster

LYMAN – Kingsbury County’s Gavin Holland placed second at 182 pounds and the Knights finished ninth in the team standings in the two-day tournament.

KC totaled 98 team points. Pierre won at 322.5 and Winner (283.5) was second.

Holland received a first-round bye and then pinned Warner/Northwestern’s Dawson Hanson in 56 seconds and Potter County’s Jonathan Wheeler in 5:49. He earned a 3-2 decision over St. Thomas More’s Corten Dobesh in the semifinals.

Pierre’s Garrett Leesman pinned Holland in 3:24 in the title bout.

The Knights’ Monte Albrecht (152) finished fifth, Dylan Zell (113) and Connor Hoffman (195) were both sixth, Alec Dobson (132) and Kain Gilligan (195) logged seventh-place showings and Nolan Coughlin (138) took eighth.

Miller/Highmore-Harrold Invitational

MILLER – RJ Perry paced Sioux Valley with a fifth-place finish at 220 pounds and Seth Heindenreich ended up sixth in the 145-pound weight class.

David Knutson (106) and Michael Stevenson (195) both finished eighth.

Dan Pansch/Jesse James Invitational

BRANDON – Tanner Christenson (120 pounds) and Caleb Dietrich (132) placed eighth for Flandreau.
