DE SMET – Brookings had 31 wrestlers compete in the District 8 AAU Tournament on March 4, and 30 placed in the top eight to advance to the Region 4 Tournament the next weekend in Britton.
In the Tots Division, Teagon Wallace placed fifth at 46 pounds while Jaxon Flaskey finished second in the 49-pound weight class.
In the Bantam Division, Noah Hansen and Briggs Archer placed first and second, respectively, in the 40-pound weight class. Lincoln Helmbolt won at 44 pounds, while Drew Brinkman finished second in the 70-pound class. Micah Sterns placed fourth in the 47-pound weight class and Bode TeKrony was sixth at 50 pounds.
In the Midget Division, Aidan Aure won the 56-pound class; Tyson Antonen took the top spot at 82; while Dylan Reynolds and Darrion Dubro won at 96 and 123 pounds, respectively. Jaidyn Hale (59) and Mason Mathis (67) placed third; James Fitzpatrick was fourth at 89 pounds; Donnie Thomasson finished sixth in the 63-pound class, along with Dawsyn Molengraff, who didn’t place.
In the Novice Division, Tate Helmbolt won at 60 pounds; Nolan Miles finished first in the 72-pound class; and Dillen Sheeley placed first at 87 pounds. Joey Fitzpatrick was third at 93 and Gabriel Stern placed fifth at 82 pounds.
In the Schoolboy Division, Kellan Aure won at 75 pounds; Jaxon Bowes took first at 106; and Carter Wright finished first at 140. Nolan Archer (100) and Connor Strand (105) placed second; and Gavin Klinkhammer finished third at 105.
Bailey TeKrony won the 53-pound weight class in the Girls’ Midget Division while Cherish Stern won the Girls’ Schoolboy division at 140 pounds.
