Bobcats win three events at ESD track and field meet

MITCHELL – The Bobcats won three events at the Eastern South Dakota Conference Track and Field Meet on Saturday at Joe Quintal Field.

Both teams placed sixth in the team standings. Watertown took the girls’ title and Brandon Valley prevailed on the boys’ side.

Brookings is host to Huron in a dual Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.

Girls

Rachel Gannon took the triple jump title with a mark of 34 feet, 2 1/2 inches.

The Bobcats’ other two victories came in relays.

Emily Rystrom, Allie Clark, Ella Kjelden and Kylie Tucker won the 4x400 meters in 4 minutes, 10.56 seconds.

Kailee Bartels, Tucker, Clark and Kayla Shoup prevailed in the medley with a 4:22.08 clocking.

Shoup was runner-up in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5:17.72.

Ainsley Powers crossed third in the 3,200 in 11:46.75.

Rystrom placed fourth in the 400 (1:00.46) and sixth in the 200 (26.9).

Tayla Dobrenski cleared 4-10 to take fourth in the high jump.

Bartels, Tucker, Clark and Rystrom finished fourth in the 4x200 in 1:48.34.

Placing sixth were Bartels in the 100-meter hurdles (15.86), Haley Sampson in the shot put (33-8 3/4) and Johanna Miller in the discus (97-2).

Brooke Wika, Elizabeth Schaar, Katie Osbeck and Cherish Stern were seventh in the 4x800 in 10:43.93. Summer von Fisher, Tatum Sheridan, Miranda Ysbrand and Regan Weisbeck added an eighth-place showing in the 4x100 in 53.48.

Boys

Isaac Conrad and Charles Wang led the way with runner-up finishes.

Conrad was second in the 800 meters in 2:03.16 – .43 off the lead.

Wang ended up second in the 3,200 with a 10:06.72 clocking.

Noah Bayer, Carter Eidem, Cole McKeown and Preston Helmbolt finished fourth in the 4x200 relay in 1:34.32.

Helmbolt placed fifth in the 400 (52.27) and Ange Aime Zokou matched that finish in the long jump (18-11 3/4).

Helmbolt, Isaac Conrad, Sam Conrad and Jaden Peterson took fifth in the 4x400 in 3:35.05.

Noah Bayer, Eidem, Eric Lam and Cole McKeown ended up sixth in the 4x100 with a 45.74 clocking.

Sam Conrad was seventh in the 1,600 (4:46.36) and Koby Bartels finished seventh in the 110-meter hurdles (17.19).

Placing eighth were Sean Collins in the shot put (44-0 3/4) and Tucker Christie in the discus (112-3). Ian Smith, Quentin Eck, Kobe Bowser and Jack Schultz were eighth in the 4x800 in 9:49.58.
