Bombers Maroon open with 5-4 victory

BROOKINGS – Jones Huntimer’s walkoff single lifted the Bombers Maroon over Sioux Falls East 5-4 to open pool play in the South Dakota Class A 13U State Baseball Tournament on Thursday evening at Bob Shelden Field.

Jase Bauer scored the winning run.

East opened the scoring in the first.

Talon Hyde’s RBI single highlighted Brookings’ two-run second frame.

East put up a pair in the fourth and one in the fifth, as the visitors moved ahead 4-2.

Brookings pulled even in the bottom of the fifth, with Bauer and Huntimer making it home.

Tre Christopherson pitched the final two frames in relief of Breck Wilson to earn the victory.

Brookings plays Pierre today at 6 p.m. and then wraps up pool play versus Yankton on Saturday at noon. Bracket play is Sunday.
