BISMARCK, N.D. – Connor Koviak lit the lamp on assists from Vince Marino and Josh Boyer 1 minute into overtime as the sixth-place Brookings Blizzard beat the fourth-place Bobcats 4-3 in an NAHL Central Division matchup Thursday night at the VFW Sports Center.
Bismarck’s Joseph Mancuso opened the scoring with a power-play tally midway through the first, before Brookings’ Gabriel Wahl answered with 3:46 to go. Derek Hammer assisted.
The Blizzard opened the second with two more goals, as Marino and Max Sasson both found the back of the net to make it 3-1. Koviak and Boyer assisted on the first goal, and Jimmy Elser the second.
Mancuso scored with 9:13 left in the second and Grant Johnson added a goal with 4:29 remaining to even the score at 3-all heading to the third.
Adam Britzgala made 23 saves to earn the win in goal. John Roberts stopped 27 shots for Bismarck (19-19-3-2, 43 points).
Brookings (16-21-2-2, 36 points) plays at fifth-place Minot (18-16-4-2, 42 points) on Friday at 8:05 p.m. and Saturday at 7:35 p.m.
