BROOKINGS – Brookings Marathon organizers officially announced Wednesday that they will be postponing their races due to the coronavirus.
The new date of the races will be on Sept. 12. Those who have already registered for the race have three options.
They can stay registered and race on Sept. 12. No action will be required if runners choose that option. They can choose to defer their registration to next year and they plan to race on May 12, 2021. The third option is converting their registration fee to a donation.

The Brookings Marathon released this statement on its website.
“We are runners, just like you, and we share your disappointment. Our volunteer committee has invested nearly a year of time and resources into preparation for the event. The majority of race expenses have already been incurred, and we are unable to offer refunds. Thank you in advance for your support and understanding.
“This is a challenging time for all of us. But as a running community, we are always up to a challenge. The website will be updated to keep runners informed of any future changes. We look forward to welcoming you to Brookings later this year or next. In the meantime, stay safe and keep running!”
