We enjoy this ranking because a majority of the members of the Brookings City Council relied upon science and voted to introduce safeguards in the City of Brookings to deter the spread of the COVID-19 virus. In doing so, they joined with Brookings’ citizens and the leadership of Brookings Health System, Avera Health Care, Brookings School District and SDSU in encouraging the same.
Ope Niemeyer, candidate for Brookings mayor, and Patty Bacon and Nick Wendell, candidates for re-election to the Brookings City Council, were among the Brookings City Council members who put our health and the health of all Brookings residents as their top priority in approving reasonable restrictions on persons in public buildings and businesses during this challenging time.
We express our gratitude to them for protecting us and our community and pledge our support for them in the April 13 City Council election.
