CASTLEWOOD – Second-seeded Hamlin pulled away from No. 15 Sioux Valley in the fourth quarter for a 64-51 victory in a Class A Sweet 16 girls’ basketball game Friday night.
The Cossacks led 16-14 after 8 minutes. Hamlin moved ahead 26-24 at halftime but the score was tied at 38-all through three quarters.
Lexi Wadsworth paced the Chargers with 19 points. Stacia West dropped in 16 points off the bench.
Sioux Valley’s Carly Granum scored a game-high 22 points, hitting four 3-pointers.
Lynsey Stevens and senior Chloe Larsen added 11 points apiece, combining for five treys.
Miakken Vincent hit one 3-ball while scoring five points. Rachel Miller had two points.
The Cossacks finished the season with an 8-14 record.
Hamlin (22-0) earned the No. 2 seed in the Class A State Tournament and takes on No. 7 Vermillion (17-6) in the first round Thursday at 6 p.m. at Frost Arena in Brookings.
