DELL RAPIDS – Chester Area defeated Colman-Egan 60-50 in the District 7B boys’ basketball championship game Friday night.
The Hawks led 13-11 after a quarter, but the Flyers moved ahead 28-27 at halftime and pushed the margin to 40-33 through three.
Chester’s Jesse Kreutzfeldt went 9-for-9 at the free-throw line while scoring 17 points.
Levi DeVries posted a double-double of 14 points and 15 rebounds. Devin Eppard added 11 points and Haden Ewoldt nine.
Colman-Egan’s Kade Groos finished with 18 points.
Bodee Groos totaled 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Dalton Voelker dropped in 10 points off the bench and grabbed five boards.
Chester shot 42.9 percent (18-of-42) from the field and Colman-Egan finished at 30.4 percent.
The Hawks concluded the season with a 15-7 record.
Chester Area (17-5) takes on District 8B champ Bridgewater-Emery (22-0) in the Region 4B game Tuesday in Madison.
Region 3B girls
MADISON – South Dakota State commit Myah Selland had 16 points, 13 rebounds, three assists, two blocks and a steal to lead Sanborn Central/ Woonsocket past De Smet 51-38 in the Region 3B girls’ basketball game Friday.
The Blackhawks led 9-8 after a quarter, 23-14 at halftime and 45-29 through three.
Megan Poyer added 14 points and six boards, while Maddie Vermeulen contributed 11 markers.
The Lady Bulldogs (19-4) got 19 points and six rebounds from Shannon Poppen.
SCW (22-1) earned the No. 5 seed in the Class B State Tournament and takes on No. 4 New Underwood (22-1) in the first round Thursday at 1:45 p.m. at Huron Arena.
