VOLGA – Sioux Valley scored nine times in the first inning en route to a 12-2, five-inning victory over Central Dakota Area on Friday night at Hoff Field.
Chase Ringheimer went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs.
Matt Larson, Tyler Schwartz and Nick Strasburg added two hits apiece. Cole Gross contributed a pair of hits, while Larson and Zack Puetz both doubled.
Larson scored three times, while Gross and Puetz added two runs apiece.
Puetz and Larson both finished 1-for-1, combining for five walks.
Gross earned the pitching win after giving up one run on three hits with five walks and four strikeouts in five innings. Tristan Richarz pitched the fifth.
The Cossacks scored their other three runs in the third to move ahead 12-1.
Sioux Valley (4-1) plays host to Madison in a doubleheader Sunday at 2 p.m.
