After losing just its second game of the season on Friday, the Brookings amateur team bounced back with an 11-1 eight-inning trouncing of the Castlewood Monarchs on Sunday at Bob Shelden Field.

BROOKINGS – The Cubs are back on the winning track.
After losing just its second game of the season on Friday, the Brookings amateur team bounced back with an 11-1 eight-inning trouncing of the Castlewood Monarchs on Sunday at Bob Shelden Field.
The Cubs pounded out 15 hits, including six for extra bases, as they scored in six of the eight innings played.
Kyle Krogman led the attack with four hits – which included two doubles – three runs scored and two runs batted in.
Meanwhile, Jeff Fish not only hit a home run for the second straight game; he added a double on the way to five RBIs.
Ty Schneider tallied three hits and drove in two while Sam McMacken picked up an RBI to go along with two base hits.
Austin Koenig singled, doubled and plated a run, as JaColby Anderson came through with a double, as well.
Carter Gordon tossed the first four innings and gave up one run on two hits and two walks while striking out four.
Sam Froehlich picked up the save as he allowed three hits and a walk with five strikeouts.
Brookings, 11-2 on the season, heads to Sioux Falls to face the Flying Squirrels tonight. First pitch is slated for 7:30 p.m.
