Darrell G. Hookie, 67, of Brookings, and a former Lake Preston resident, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017, at the Brookings hospital in Brookings.
Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Lake Preston Lutheran Church with Vicar Brad Sanderson officiating. Burial is in the Lake Preston Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the church. A light lunch will be provided at the church following the burial.
Darrell Gene Hookie was born April 11, 1950, to Charles and Elsie Hookie at Lake Preston. He was baptized and confirmed at the Lake Preston Lutheran Church. Darrell graduated from Lake Preston High School in 1969.
Darrell married Mary Huber on July 26, 1986, at Lake Preston Lutheran Church,
Darrell is survived by his brother, Don (Judy) Hookie of Centerville; sisters-in-Law, Delaine Hookie of Madison, Nancy Hookie of Hermann, Missouri, and Jolene Hookie of David City, Nebraska; special friend, Bonnie Begalka of Brookings and his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary; his parents, brothers Clarence, Richard, Dale and Doug, sister Vera.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for a future designation or to the donor’s choice.
