Dexter R. Johnson, 68, of Rapid City, died Sunday, May 6, 2018.
An open house celebration of life will be held on July 28, from 2-5 p.m. at 45816 199th St. in Arlington.
Dexter Reed Johnson was born Oct. 4, 1949, in Brookings. He was the second eldest of four children born to the late Harvey and Lorraine (Hevle) Johnson. His eldest brother Jeffrey preceded him in death. Dexter attended Brookings High School and went on to graduate with a business degree from Dakota State College (now Dakota State University) in 1975.
Dexter’s career was spent in the fields of business and management and he retired in 2011 from McDonald Supply in Rapid City. Dex coached soccer, enjoyed playing golf, loved to spend time sitting in the sun with a good book and played thousands of hands of solitaire. In retirement, he enjoyed perfecting his golf game, reading, visiting his family and spending time with friends at the casino.
Dexter is survived by his children, Jennifer Madden and her wife Russia Madden, Patrick Johnson and his wife Chelsea Johnson and Marcus Johnson; his sister, Brenda Bjorklund and her husband Tim Bjorklund and brother, Brian Johnson and his wife Laurie Johnson; two grandchildren; and nine nieces and nephews.
