A celebration of life for Donald and Janis Severson will be held this Saturday in Arlington.
Donald Irvin Severson was born on Dec. 4, 1928, in Royal Oak, Mich. He passed away at the age of 91 on November 21, 2020 at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center.
Janis Kay Lund was born on March 13, 1942, in Volga. She passed away at the age of 78 on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at the Brookings Hospital.
Don and Jan were married on July 28, 1990, in Arlington. They worked together at his engineering business until their retirement.
They loved spending their life living in the country, playing golf, bowling, scuba diving, and traveling together. In 2015, they moved to Brookings, and then to the Estelline Care Center in 2019.
A celebration of life is scheduled to honor both Janis and Don and will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arlington with interment at Arlington City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, June 25, 2021, at Johnson-Henry Funeral Home of Arlington.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Special Olympics.
