Douglas Ray Voss died in peace on December 27, 2019 at his home in Colorado Springs, Colorado at the age of 68. Mass will be held Friday, January 10, 2020 at St. Francis of Assisi in Colorado Springs; rosary will begin at 10:30 followed by his service at 11:00 and a reception immediately following.
Doug was born April 12, 1951 in Brookings, South Dakota to Arthur and Esther Voss.
Doug received his education in Brookings. He married Kathryn Langland on April 18, 1969. They had five children all born in Brookings. They relocated their family to Colorado Springs in 1985 where Doug lived until his death. In April 2019 they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Doug devoted forty-eight years to construction management projects as a mechanical and general construction superintendent. He oversaw the construction of steel mills, reservoirs and numerous water treatment facilities throughout the U.S. He was named the 2012 Outstanding Citizen of the Year by the City of Parker, CO and a conference room is named in his honor at the Reuter-Hess Water Facility.
Doug is survived by his wife Kathy; son Shane Voss and family of Durango, CO; daughters Amy (Voss) Madden, Jennifer (Voss) Vuldy and son Sean Voss and their families of Colorado Springs; brother Gary Voss and family of Tremonton, UT; sisters Jeanette (Voss) Huffman, Sherrie (Voss) Hougland, sister-in-law Shirley (Cameron) Voss, brothers-in-law Dennis and Mark Langland and their families of Brookings, SD; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son Michael, parents, brother Leroy, and brother-in-law Leonard Huffman. Doug was a loving brother, husband, father, grandfather, and uncle and will be dearly missed.
