Elsie W. Borchardt 93, of Brookings, SD, passed away Saturday, April 1st, 2017 at Park Place Assisted Living, in Brookings.
Elsie was born Aug. 7, 1923, at Bath, South Dakota, to Robert and Grace (Kelso) Hughes. She attended rural Elementary School, and graduated from Bath High School in 1941. Elsie graduated from Aberdeen Commercial College, after which she was employed as a bookkeeper at Webb Shoe Company in Aberdeen.
Elsie was united in marriage to Clayton Borchardt in Aberdeen, South Dakota on September 22nd, 1945. They moved to Brookings in 1946. She was a secretary and part-time office manager at Borchardt Realty for several years.
Elsie was a long-time member of Morningside Community Church, where she and her husband Clayton were youth leaders for a number of years.
Her hobbies included sewing and reading.
Elsie was a deeply devoted wife, a loving and caring mother, and a Christian committed to faith and prayer.
Elsie is survived by her son, Ron (Pouran) Borchardt, of Brookings, her grandson, Reza Borchardt (Christa Kemnitz) of Brookings and relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and two brothers.
Graveside Services will be held for Elsie and her husband, Clayton in the Spring.
