VOLGA – Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan grabbed an early 28-0 lead en route to a 55-12 win over Sioux Valley to close out the high school football regular season on Friday night.

Jamin Arend picked up 288 yards on 32 rushes and scored three times. Brady Hawkins was 4-of-5 for 82 yards passing.

Jonah Hofer caught a 7-yard touchdown pass from Hawkins on the game’s opening possession. Following an interception, Arend got loose for a 58-yard dash to paydirt.

One play later, Sawyer Schultz recovered a fumble and raced 29 yards to the end zone. Grant Andrews’ 1-yard plunge made it 28-0 at the 4:25 mark of the first quarter.

Hawkins added a 4-yard TD run 8 seconds into the second to push the margin to 35-0.

The Cossacks got on the board via Parker Puetz’s 1-yard rush with 22.7 seconds left before halftime. Puetz added an 11-yard TD toss to Jaxton Schiller midway through the third, cutting the deficit to 35-12.

Arend had a 2-yard TD run in the third and a 20-yarder in the fourth. Bodie Burnham closed out the scoring with a 53-yard run with 2:26 remaining.

The Seahawks finished with 373 yards on the ground.

Hawkins had nine tackles and Carter Dye seven.

Puetz finished 10-of-19 for 194 yards. Schiller picked up 129 yards on six receptions and Lane VanderWal added a 37-yard catch. Dalton Hanson ran three times for 15 yards.

Schiller and Carson Christopherson both had 10 tackles and Isaac Mittan added nine.

BEE improved to 7-1 and Sioux Valley dropped to 4-4 heading into the Class 11B Playoffs, which begin Thursday.

FLANDREAU – The Quarriers defeated the Fliers, who finished the season with an 0-8 record.

Dell Rapids (5-3) closes the regular season playing host to Madison on Thursday.
