SIOUX FALLS – Christian swept the team titles at the Region 2A Cross Country Meet on Thursday at Yankton Trail Park.
The top-20 individuals and top-three teams from both races qualified for state, scheduled for Oct. 24 in Rapid City.
Girls
The Chargers had 14 team points, as Flandreau (32) was second and Garretson (66) third. Sioux Valley (73) finished fourth.
Flandreau’s Faith Wiese was medalist in the 5K with a time of 19 minutes, 31.87 seconds.
SFC occupied the next four spots, led by runner-up Taryn Whisler (20:14.95).
The Cossacks’ Isabelle Bloker qualified for state by placing sixth in 20:51.19.
Rounding out the Flier team tally, Libby Hursey (21:12.57) finished eighth, Josie Hamilton (21:32.27) 12th and Lily Klein (21:40.69) 14th.
Sioux Valley’s Brooke Knutson was 19th in 21:58.13 to advance.
Boys
The Chargers swept the top-five spots in the team standings to post 10 points, easily outdistancing Madison (68) and Baltic (60).
Flandreau (77) was fourth and Sioux Valley (121) eighth.
SFC’s Isaac Davelaar won the 5K in 16:13.66 – easily outpacing teammate Isaac Engbers (16:45.99).
The Cossacks’ Colby Gatzke made it to state by taking ninth in 17:59.26.
The Fliers’ Austin Kulm was 13th with a 18:14.14 clocking.
