Glen L. Carver, of Lutz, Fla. passed away Friday, Aug. 4, 2017, with his loving family by his side. 

Glen L. Carver was born Sept. 21, 1927, in Neligh, Neb. He graduated from Royal High School in 1944 (Royal, Neb.) and attended Wayne College (Wayne, Neb.). Glen worked on the Fort Randall Dam in Pickstown and upon completion moved to Pierre to work on the Oahe Dam. Glen and his family moved to Brookings in 1962 to become an inspector for the Office of State Engineer of South Dakota and later served as Physical Plant Director at South Dakota State University from 1977-1989. Glen then moved to Mesa, Ariz., where he became Assistant Physical Plant Director at Arizona State University. 

Glen married Bernice L. Martinec of Lake Andes on Oct. 8, 1951. Glen and Bernice were the proud parents of sons Gregory, Garth, and Galen. Glen was gifted with the uncanny ability to design, build and fix. He was known for his steadfast work ethic and good natured personality. Glen greatly enjoyed spending time with his three boys and was always there to support them. 

Glen is survived by his sister Sonna Colby of Tampa Fla.; his three sons, Gregory of St. Simons Island, Ga.; Garth (Dee) of Beltsville Md.; Galen (Sandy) of Land-O-Lakes, Fla.; nephew Chad Colby; niece Tonya Packard; grandchildren Patrick and Hayley Carver. 

A celebration of life reception will be held in the conference room of the Hampton Inn & Suites in Brookings on Aug. 18 from 4 – 6 p.m. Casual dress is encouraged.
