Gordon Harms, age 84, of Brookings, passed away Monday, Nov. 4, 2019, at the Brookings Hospital under hospice care. Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, 2019, at Eidsness Funeral Home with visitations one hour prior to the service. 

Gordon J. Harms was born September 16, 1935, to August and Louise (Revilac) Harms in Hooper, NE. After graduating high school, Gordon went to Wayne State College.  He was a phenomenal pitcher for the baseball team at Wayne State.  His brothers would tell the story that his height of 6’6 and his speed would intimidate the batters. 

After two years at Wayne State, Gordon enrolled in the Marines and served his country in the Korean Conflict. After the Korean Conflict, he came back to Fremont, Nebraska, where he was employed with Rexall Drug. 

In September of 1961, Gordon married Marilyn Fergen. They were blessed with three beautiful children.  The couple resided in Fremont until 1979.  At which time, they moved to Brookings.  

Gordon was the receiving manager for K-Mart until his retirement in 2000. Gordon enjoyed hunting and many fishing trips. 

Survivors include his children; David Harms of Brookings, Dianne Harms of Spicer, MN, and Dan (Katie) Harms of Sioux Falls; granddaughters, Paige Harms (Mat) of Mitchell, Teresa (Kyle) Running and Lindsey Harms, both of Willmar, MN; siblings, Fran Harms of Columbus, NE, Bill (Charlotte) Harms of Fairfield, CA, Janice Collins of Mesa, AZ, and Rose Nemec of North Bend, NE; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Eldon; ex-wife, Marilyn; and bro
