SIOUX FALLS – The Bombers Gray had a tough afternoon at Harmodon as Central swept Brookings in a youth baseball doubleheader on Wednesday.

Central took advantage of eight Gray errors in a 15-1 win in the opener before capping off the sweep with a 12-3 win in the nightcap.

Gray competes in the state tournament at Watertown Stadium this weekend.

Central led 4-0 before Gray came back with three runs in the fourth to get within a run.

But the home team responded with eight in the bottom of the fourth to put the game away.

With one away in the fourth, Braden Clifford and Isac Norgaard hit back-to-back singles before Magnus Nelson cleared the bases with a two-RBI double.

David Fenske’s groundball out allowed Nelson to move to third and he scored on Jesse Roberts’ two-out single.

Anthony Hildebrandt suffered the loss after giving up 11 runs – six earned – on seven hits and four walks with two strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings of work. Roberts finished up and allowed one earned runs on two hits and one walk over the final 1 2/3.

Fourteen of Central’s 15 runs were unearned as Gray committed eight errors.

Joseph Holy threw 1 2/3 frames and gave up 14 runs – two earned – on three hits and four walks while Brayton Mack tossed an inning and gave up one earned run on two hits with a strikeout.

Gray scored its lone run in the third when Mack drew a walk; Stotz was hit by a pitch; Clifford walked; Norgaard was hit by a pitch, forcing in Mack.
