Henrietta Mulder was born on Oct. 30, 1927, in Volga, the daughter of Edward and Etta (Vellinga) Mulder.

She received her education in rural schools near Volga and Elkton, and graduated from Volga High School in 1945.  She worked in the Brookings Ration Office until World War II ended and then at the Extension Service as secretary to the County Agent Supervisors.  Henrietta was united in marriage to Garret John TeKrony on December 1, 1948, in Volga.  They farmed in Deuel County until 1958 when they moved to a farm west of Castlewood.  They retired in 1981 and moved into Castlewood, and in 2003 they moved to Brookings.  Garret passed away in 2013.

Henrietta and Garret were members for many years of the Bemis Christian Reformed Church, where she was active in Ladies’ Aid, taught Sunday School, and sang many duets with her sister-in-law, Corky.

She was a past member of the Fidelis Club and the Merry Mrs. Club, and she enjoyed gardening, canning, baking, trying new recipes, playing piano, growing flowers, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends.  More recently she enjoyed reading on her Kindle and doing puzzles.  She trusted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, and was currently a member of Faith Reformed Church in Brookings.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Garret, her parents, five brothers: Henry, Dewey, Raymond, Edward, and Arthur, and three sisters: Tess Vander Wal, Nellie Knutson, and Augusta Heemeyer.
