High school volleyball: Colman-Egan finishes seventh in Class B consolation bracket

Colman-Egan wrapped up their run in the state tournament over the weekend, earning seventh place in the Class B consolation bracket. The Hawks fell to Castlewood in their first match in the consolation bracket on Fridayafternoon before defeating Freeman on Saturday afternoon.

Friday

• Castlewood 3, Colman-Egan 1

After falling to third-seeded Chester Area in four sets on Thursday night, the sixth-seeded Hawks opened their run in the consolation bracket against Castlewood but the Warriors prevailed in four sets, 25-18, 17-25, 27-25 and 25-18.

Berkeley Groos had a team-high 10 kills for the Hawks while Kadance Landis had nine kills. Daniela Lee and Brynlee Landis also had eight kills each for C-E.

Lanie Mousel led the Hawks in assists with 25 while Mousel had 13 on the evening. Groos had a team-high 22 digs while Kaylee Voelker had 12 digs, Presley Luze had 11 digs, Lee and Ava Mousel had 10 digs each and Lanie Mousel had nine digs.

Lee and Brynlee Landis each had three blocks for the Hawks.

Mackenzie Everson led Castlewood with 17 kills, Emerson Carter had 12 kills, Madeline Horn had 10 kills, and Presley Knecht had six kills. Gracie Haug led the Warriors with 38 assists while Cassidy Kirwan had five assists. Mackenzie Everson had a team-high 23 digs, Haug had 22 digs, Knecht had 12 digs and Kailyn Larson had eight digs. Horn and Lyndsey Archer had seven digs each. Emerson Carter also had a team-high three blocks.

Saturday

• Colman-Egan 3, Freeman 1

The Hawks defeated the Flyers in four sets on Saturday afternoon, winning by scores of 17-25, 25-22, 25-20 and 25-16.

Brynlee Landis led the Hawks with 12 kills while Lee, Kadance Landis, Groose and Elaina Rhode had nine kills each. Lanie Mousel had 35 assists for C-E while Ava Mousel had seven assists. Voelker had a team-high 15 digs, Lee and Groos had 14 digs each and Luze had 13 digs. Lee led the Hawks with four blocks.

Kate Miller led the Flyers with 11 kills, Erin Uecker had eight kills and Zenovia Butler had seven kills and Ashlin Jacobsen had six kills. Cami Fransen had 23 assists, Erin Uecker had 25 digs, Jacobsen had 18 digs, Fransen had 17 digs, Emily Mendel had 13 digs, Miller had 11 digs and Zenovia Butler had 10 digs. Uecker led Freeman with seven blocks.

The Hawks finished the season with a record of 20-9. C-E also has four departing seniors in Groos, Ava Mousel, Landis and Rhode.
