The Brookings Bobcats fell in their first dual of the season on Monday night, falling on the road to West Central by a score of 45-27.
At 120 pounds, Elias McElroy fell to West Central’s Karson Vessells in 47 seconds. Luke DeRynck scored Brookings first victory at 132 pounds, defeating Langdon Klinkhammer by an 8-4 decision.
Connor Siemonsma picked up a victory for West Central at 145 pounds, defeating Spencer Christie by a 7-0 decision and Chandler Carda scored another win for the Trojans, defeating Mason Mathis by fall at 1:10 at 152 pounds.
Keaton Vessells defeated Blake Kannegieter by fall at 1:48 at 160 pounds, Justin Zirpel defeated Joe Fitzpatrick in an 11-5 decision at 170 pounds, Chet Carda defeated Israel Caldron by a 5-0 decision at 182 pounds, Caleb Loehr defeated Gabe Gebhard via fall at 3:38 at 195 pounds and Gabin Pischke defeated Daniel Klug via fall at 2:20 at 285 pounds.
Tate Helmbolt (113 pounds), Nolan Miles (138 pounds) and James Olson (220 pounds) all won via forfeit for Brookings while Alex Siemonsma won via forfeit at 106 pounds for West Central.
The boys team will be back in action and the girls team will make its season debut on Friday night when the Bobcats travel to Pierre.
