HARRISBURG – The Brookings Bobcats traveled to Mitchell for a triangular on Thursday night finishing third behind Mitchell and ahead of Madison. The Bobcats had a team score of 138.050 while the Kernels finished first with a team score of 149.100 and the Bulldogs finished third with a score of 131.900.

High school wrestling: Bobcats finish second at Mitchell Triangular

HARRISBURG – The Brookings Bobcats traveled to Mitchell for a triangular on Thursday night finishing third behind Mitchell and ahead of Madison. The Bobcats had a team score of 138.050 while the Kernels finished first with a team score of 149.100 and the Bulldogs finished third with a score of 131.900.

Layla Erickson was the top finisher for the Bobcats in the all-around competition, finishing with a total score of 35.550. Delilah Fuls finished seventh with a score of 34.350, Jessica Fourney finished eighth with a score of 34.250 and Tayla Dobrenski finished ninth with an all-around score of 33.900. Amber Brockberg finished 12th with a score of 23.800,

Nevaeh Strohfus finished 21st with a score of 16.150, Ava Peterson finished 23rd with a score of 15.450 and Mischa Janssen finished 28 with a score of 7.350.

Mitchell’s Olivia Prunty finished with the top all-around score at 37.650 while her teammate Kyra Gropper finished second with a score of 37.500 and Kyanna Gropper finished third with a score of 36.750.

Fuls finished with the top score for Brookings in the vault at 9.100. Erickson finished seventh with a score of 8.900, Dobrenski finished 10th with a score of 8.650, Fourney finished 11th with a score of 8.600 while Brockberg and Petersen finished tied for 17th with scores of 7.850.

Prunty finished with the top score on the vault at 9.550 while Kyra Gropper finished second with a score of 9.200 and Emily Moody finished third with a score of 9.150.

Fuls finished with the top score for Brookings in the uneven bars recording a score of 8.300. Erickson placed sixth with a score of 8.200 and Dobrenski finished ninth with a score of 8.050. Fourney finished 11th with a score of 7.700, Petersen finished 12th with a score of 7.600 and Janssen finished 16th with a score of 7.350.

Kyra Gropper finished with the top score on the bars with a 9.350, Prunty finished second with a score of 9.250 and Bentley Bates finished third with a score of 9.150.

Erickson finished with Brookings’s best score on the beam, placing sixth with a score of 9.300. Fourney finished seventh with a score of 8.950, Dobrenski finished 13th with a score of 8.050, Fuls finished 16th with a score of 7.750, Strohfus finished 18th with a score of 7.650 and Brockberg finished 20th with a score of 7.150.

Madison’s Karlie Nelson and Kyra Gropper finished tied for first on the beam with a score of 9.450 and Mitchell’s Aubrey Gelderman finished third with a score of 9.400.

Fuls finished eighth in the floor exercise with a score of 9.200, Erickson and Dobrenski finished tied for ninth with a score of 9.150, Fourney finished 11th with a score of 9.000, Brockberg finished 13th with a score of 8.800 and Strohfus finished 16th with a score of 8.500.

Kyra Gropper and Prunty finished tied for first in the floor exercise with a score of 9.500 while Moody finished third with a score of 9.450.

The Bobcats will now prepare for the State Tournament qualifying meet which will take place in Pierre Feb. 4.
