Isabell E. Corcoran, 97, of Flandreau, died Friday, May 4, 2018, at Brookings Health System.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Friday at Skroch Funeral Chapel in Flandreau. Burial is in Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Cemetery. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Thursday with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Skroch Funeral Chapel.
Isabell was born July 4, 1920, at Elkton to Edward and Hertha (Kramer) Hirzel. She received her education in country school and Verdi High School.
Isabell married Raymond Corcoran May 30, 1938, at Elkton.
They farmed in Moody County until 1945 and then moved to a farm near Sinai. In the spring of 1961 they returned to Moody County to farm northeast of Flandreau. Isabell bought the Flandreau Cafe in 1969 and managed the cafe until 2000.
Her husband died April 15, 1983. Isabell was a member South Dakota Retailers Association and former member of the Flandreau Improvement Corporation.
She wintered in Florida, Texas and mostly Arizona for many years. Isabell enjoyed gardening, flowers, camping, traveling and was a wonderful cook.
Isabell is survived by nine children, Betty Martens of Sioux Falls, Michael (Deanna) of Flandreau, Thomas (Donna) of Flandreau, Pat Kanz of Flandreau, Jan (Herman) Bos of Edgerton, Minnesota, Bonnie (Bob) O’Brien of Sioux Falls; Dennis (Heather) of Flandreau, Greg (Laurie) of Apache Junction, Arizona, and Ray of Flandreau; 26 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren; and brother Marlin (Jeanette) Hirzel of Oregon.
Isabell was preceded in death by her husband Raymond, daughter Phyllis, son Roy, daughter-in-law Lavonne, two brothers, Leo and Earl and an infant sister.
