HOUSTON – South Dakota State closed its stay at the Scrap Yard College Softball Classic Sunday with a 6-1 win over Louisiana Monroe.

The Jackrabbits (4-5) had seven hits in the game and saw Grace Glanzer earn her third victory of the season. Glanzer struck out seven and allowed one run on four hits in the complete-game performance.

Kelsey Lenox drove in four runs in the win, going 2-for-3 with a double and three-run home run. Cylie Halvorson (RBI) and Allison Yoder added doubles, while Peyton Daugherty tallied the other Jackrabbit RBI.

SDSU jumped on the Warhawks early, opening up a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Olivia Pfeifer started the offense with a one-out single before Halvorson and Lenox followed with RBI doubles.

ULM cut the deficit to one (2-1) with a triple and RBI single in the second, but the Jackrabbits got the run back in the bottom of the frame with a two-out rally. Yoder lofted a 2-1 pitch to left for a double, then Daugherty brought her home on a single to center.

That score held until the bottom of the fifth, when Lenox launched her second home run of the season as the Jackrabbits took a 6-1 lead. Lenox's long ball plated Daugherty and Pfeifer, who reached earlier in the inning on fielder's choices.

Glanzer faced just one over the minimum in the final three innings to close out the win.

The Islanders took a 1-0 lead in the second inning, opening the frame with a double, single and fielder’s choice to bring a run in.

SDSU looked to answer in the bottom of the third after putting two on (Olivia Pfeifer and Daugherty), but the Islanders got out of the threat with an out at home after Bassi’s near-RBI single set up a play at the plate.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi carried that momentum into the next two innings, scratching across runs in the fourth and fifth to open up a 3-0 lead on the Jacks, where it stayed the rest of the way.

Kandace Johnson pitched a two-hit shutout, striking out seven and walking one.

Grace Glanzer (2-2) tossed a complete game, allowing five runs on six hits with two strikeouts.

Caelyn Christiancy led the Jackrabbit offense with a double, joining Cylie Halvorson, Hannah Loving and Pfeifer with hits.

A squeeze play in the second helped McNeese State snag a 1-0 lead early, as the Cowgirls took advantage of a one-out double and stolen base to set up the scoring opportunity.

SDSU came close in the fourth after Christiancy reached third on a one-out double and two-out passed ball, but a fly out to center ended the scoring chance.

The Cowgirls pulled away for good in the bottom of the six with four runs. After loading the bases with three-straight singles, McNeese State sent a run in with a ground ball, then with two outs went ahead 5-0 with a three-run home run.
