BROOKINGS – South Dakota State volleyball head coach Nicole Cirillo announced Tuesday the addition of Taylor Svehla as a graduate assistant coach for the upcoming season.
“We are excited to add another strong volleyball mind in Taylor Svehla,” Cirillo said. “She had a great playing career from club and high school through college, and as a middle blocker will fill a need within our staff.”
Svehla, a recent graduate of Georgia College, played four years with the Bobcats and was a 2018 AVCA honorable mention All-American, earning All-Region honors in her final two seasons while finishing as the 2018 Peach Belt Conference Co-Player of the Year. She led the team with 397 kills (3.48 per set) and 116 blocks (28 solo) as a senior, starting all 30 matches for GC.
Svehla, who was also the Peach Belt Conference’s Freshman of the Year in 2015, became the school’s first-ever member of the 1,000 kill and 300 block clubs during her final year, finishing as the all-time leader in kills (1,276) and blocks (384).
She earned her bachelor’s degree in mathematics with a teaching concentration in May 2019.
