VERMILLION – The South Dakota State track and field team hit the road Saturday for the USD Invitational against South Dakota, Omaha and Drake.

Rich-Ann Archer took first in the women’s 60m dash in a time of 7.65. Behind her, Jaiden Boomsma took third with a 7.82 clocking. Archer’s mark came as a personal best and elevated her from sixth, to fourth on the all-time charts.

In the 60m hurdles, freshman Katelyn Darnell came in second with a 9.29.

The 4x400 of Elizabeth Kolb, Emily Rystrom, Savannah Risseeuw and Jaide Geurts finished runner-up with a time of 4:15.79, as did the DMR of Jessica Christoffer, Kasey Klocek, Tori Glazier and Malorie Schmoll who finished in 12:49.56.

In the field events, Addison Eisenbeisz jumped for 5-03.75 and second place while Madison Kizer followed, taking third with an identical mark of 5-03.75.

The Jackrabbit women long jumpers took first, second and third in the event. Jaiden Boomsma’s jump of 18-04.50 was good enough to take first, Annie Wendt finished in second with a distance of 18-01.50 and Emma Stewart followed with a mark of 17-09.75.

In the throws ring, Faith Leiseth took third in the shot and picked up a new PR with her throw of 46-04.75.

Caitlin Thilges recorded a weight throw of 57-05.50 to give her third in the event, a new PR, and the ninth-best mark in SDSU history.

On the men’s side, Daniel Clarke took third in the 60m dash in a time of 6.95 before taking third in the long jump with a 22-01.00.

Also capturing a third place finish, Daniel Burkhalter finished the mile run in 4:14.75. Josh Becker took second in the 3000 with a time of 8:51.14. Noah Strako finished third in the 60m hurdles with a 8.68.

South Dakota State’s all-time leader in the event, Trent Francom, tied his own indoor PR with his vault of 17-05.00.

Russell Pierzinski grabbed second in the triple jump with a distance of 42-07.00.

The Jackrabbits once again took the top three positions in an event, this time in the men’s shot put. Noah Huber won the event with a throw of 56-05.75, Trevor Begeman followed with a mark of 56-02.50 and Sam Coil followed with a 55-00.25 marking.

In the weight throw, Sam Coil won with a throw of 66-03.25 which also gave him a new PR in the event. Noah Huber finished third with a mark of 62-03.75.

TEAM SCORES

Men – South Dakota 136, South Dakota State 80, Drake 46.

Women – South Dakota 188.5, South Dakota State 134, Drake 60, Omaha 58.5.

The Jackrabbits are scheduled to host the Jim Emmerich Alumni Invitational Jan. 23.
