DES MOINES, Iowa – South Dakota State was swept 25-21, 25-21, 25-20 by Drake in a season-opening volleyball match Sunday afternoon in the Knapp Center.
The Bulldogs (3-0) got 14 kills and a service ace from Haley Bush. Caitlyn Smith dished out 32 set assists and notched 14 digs, while Kylee Macke came up with 18 digs.
For the Jackrabbits, Crystal Burk totaled 13 kills, Akeela Jefferson 11 and Hailee Blau nine. All three players added a block assist.
Carly Wedel guided the offense with 34 set assists and Brooke Amann paced the defense with 15 digs.
SDSU hosts Western Illinois on Sunday and Monday. Both matches get underway at 1 p.m.
